Akbar, AE 1/4 Dam, Ahmednagar, AH 1011

Obverse: Tanka Akbar Shahi, Sanah 1011; Reverse: Tir Mah Illahi Ahmednagar

These coins bear a Hijri date of  1011 and the Illahi month Tir which is quite unusual. The Nizam Shahi kingdom of Ahmednagar was partially conquered by the Mughals toward the end of Akbar's reign. Copper coins struck to the prevalent local standard and denominational system were sporadically struck under Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan.
