Complete birth name of the ruler at top on obv., complete mint name at top on rev. Rafi-ud-Darajat and Rafi-ud-Daula were sons of Rafi-us-Shan, the fifth son of Shah Alam Bahadur. On his death bed, Rafi-ud-Darajat requested to enthrone his elder brother Rafi-ud-Daula. Two days later, Rafi-ud-Daula was enthroned. All coins of Rafi-ud-Daula bear the regnal name Shah Jahan which he adopted upon assuming the throne. Very few coins such as this, from Ajmer Mint, are known to have his birth name ‘Rafi-ud-Daula.’
