Aurangzeb, AV Mohur, Dar-al-Zafar Bijapur, AH 1097
This issue corresponds with the Mughal victory in Bijapur. During 1686-1687 AD (AH 1097) Golconda and Bijapur were conquered by Aurangzeb. Muhammad Azam Shah, son of Aurangzeb captured the Bijapur Fort with a force of nearly 50,000 men and defeated the then ruler of Bijapur, Sikandar Adil Shah. This coin is therefore considered to be a ‘victory issue’.
