Akbar, AR Rupee, Sharifabad (off-flan), Kalima type
Attributed to Sharifabad by type. Flower mint-mark. Sharifabad was the alias of either Birbhum or Varddhaman in West Bengal. The region was conquered by Akbar during his first conquest of Bengal and used as a launch pad for subsequent campaigns to conquer the Eastern parts of the province. Coins of Sharifabad mint are extremely rare with only a very few specimens known, most of them with truncated and barely readable mint names.
