"Nur al-Din" type, The Siege of Qandhar (Kandahar) was a decisive victory for the Mughal Empire. In November 1605 AD, the Safavids laid siege to the Mughal frontier city of Qandhar (Kandahar). The city was defended by Governor Shah Beg Khan, who held out against the Safavid siege for 2 months. In January 1606 AD, a relief army led by Jahangir, the new Mughal emperor, arrived and lifted the siege. The Safavids were forced to retreat, and Qandhar (Kandahar) remained in Mughal hands. The Siege of Qandhar (Kandahar) was a significant victory for the Mughals. It not only prevented the Safavids from capturing a strategically important city, but it also boosted Mughal morale and prestige. The victory helped to solidify Jahangir's rule and secure his position as the new emperor
