Humayun, AR Shahrukhi, Qandahar, jointly struck with Shah Tahmasp of Iran
Shahrukhi, struck at Qandahar, jointly in the names of of Tahmasp I, Safavid king of Iran and Humayun, Mughal emperor in exile - with Shia version of the Kalima ('Ali Wali ullah' added) on obverse.
Tahmasp gave refuge Humayun only on the condition that he becomes a Shia. In 1545, Humayun embarked on a campaign with Tahmasp's help to recover Qandahar from his rebellious brother Askari Mirza. Qandahar was captured after a two week siege.
These coins are the only instance of the Shia Kalima on an issue bearing the name of a Mughal ruler.
