Machilipatnam which is also referred to as Bandar Machilipatnam / Masulipatnam is a foremost port city in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The city is nestled on the Coromandel Coast of India. This city is popular in the Indian history because of its rich historical background which was dominated by the Dutch, French and British. It was the major gateway of their sea trade. The first factory was setup by securing a patent from the Sultan of Golkonda in 1669 by French. After capturing Bijapur, most of the prominent towns and parts in the south were captured by Aurangzeb.
