Aurangzeb, AR Rupee, Dar-ul-Khilafat Shahjahanabad, AH 1119/51, Posthumous issue
Aurangzeb died on the 28th of Dhu-al-Qa’dah 1118 (20th February 1707) at his camp 2 miles North-East of Ahmadnagar. AH 1119 commenced 24 March 1707. Perhaps due to uncertainty as to who would be the new emperor, some mints continued to posthumously strike coins in Aurangzeb’s name.
